The announcement was made in the presence of prominent members of the Chattogram community and leaders of various Chattogram-based organisations in the UK.
The programme began with a cake-cutting ceremony, followed by discussions on the planning, preparations and successful organisation of the proposed festival.
Community leaders emphasised the importance of organising an inclusive, well-coordinated and vibrant festival with the participation of people from all sections of the Chattogram community, regardless of political affiliation, religion, ethnicity, social status or profession.
Participants shared various suggestions and opinions on making the festival successful and meaningful, while expressing their commitment to working together towards the event.
The organisers said a comprehensive roadmap and preliminary plan for the festival would be presented within the next couple of days. The programmes will subsequently be finalised based on feedback and suggestions from all concerned.
According to the preliminary plan, the festival will showcase Chattogram’s rich culture, music, traditions, heritage, history and proud legacy. Various programmes will also highlight the region’s distinctive identity and diverse cultural heritage.
Among those present at the event were community personalities Jagir Alam, Councillor Saiyed Firoz Gani, Shawkat Mahmud Dipu, Akhtarul Alam, Sujon Barua, Masudur Rahman, Sarwar Chowdhury, Monir Mahmud, Mohammad Ali Reza, Dr Bishwajit Roy, Mira Barua, Tanvir Khan, Asma Alam, Jaglul Chowdhury, Shawkat Osman, Raihan Chowdhury Titu, Alim Ullah Rahat, Nurunnabi Ali, Gias Barua, Nurul Alam, Sadia Afrin, Nabil Rahman, Syed Saiful Islam and Shamsul Russell.
Junaid Riaz and Imran Chowdhury represented event management company Amrosian, while officials of iON Television were also present.
Barrister Manwar Hossain, Anupam Shaha and Anjuman Ara Nizam of Chattogram Samity, among others, expressed regret for being unable to attend due to previously scheduled commitments.
The organisers expressed hope that with the sincere cooperation, suggestions and active participation of all concerned, ‘Chattogram Festival 2026’ would become a memorable and inclusive celebration of Chattogram’s culture and heritage in London.
