21st National Furniture Fair Begins at ICCB Featuring 323 Stalls

The 21st National Furniture Fair has kicked off at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital, showcasing modern designs, product diversity, and structural innovations of the domestic furniture industry. Organized by the Bangladesh Furniture Industries Owners Association (BFSMAS), the five-day exposition features 44 leading furniture manufacturers displaying their products across 323 stalls.

The fair, which formally opened yesterday, is being hosted across the Pushpoguchho, Rajdarshan, and Noboratri halls of ICCB. It remains open to visitors daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM with free entry. Additionally, participating brands are offering up to 15 percent discounts on various furniture items throughout the event.

Mohammed Hasan Arif, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest. Md. Fozlul Hoque, Administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), and Dr. K. M. Akhtaruzzaman, President of the Bangladesh Furniture Exporters Association, were present as special guests. The session was presided over by Selim H. Rahman, Chairman of BFSMAS.

Speaking at the event, EPB Vice Chairman Mohammed Hasan Arif highlighted that the local furniture sector plays a vital role in meeting domestic demand while contributing significantly to national employment and economic growth. He noted that the sector achieved positive export growth during the first quarter (July–September) of the current fiscal year, indicating strong prospects for international expansion.

FBCCI Administrator Md. Fozlul Hoque emphasized the pride of establishing domestic furniture brands in the global market beyond traditional export sectors like readymade garments. He stated that Bangladesh has built a domestic furniture market worth approximately BDT 30,000 crore, which is now almost entirely served by local manufacturers.

BFSMAS Chairman Selim H. Rahman stressed the importance of increasing investment in design, technology, and product quality to maintain the industry's progress, while calling for easy access to financing and skilled manpower development.

Convener of the Fair Committee and BFSMAS Vice Chairman Alhajj Sheikh Abdul Awal mentioned that the national exhibition provides a unified platform for local manufacturers to showcase their newest designs and innovations, allowing consumers to compare features and select products under one roof.

Participating companies include prominent brands such as Akhtar, Hatil, Brothers, Nadia, Aayat, Omega, JMG, Navana, Athenas, Partex, Regal, and Legacy.

The event, managed overall by Design and Technology Centre (DTC), will continue through October 31.
