The participating institutions include American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), North South University (NSU), BRAC University, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), Sonargaon University, United International University (UIU), Fareast International University, The University of Scholars, and Daffodil International University (DIU).
While a total prize pool of BDT 3 million awaits the champions and top performers, the significance of the event extends far beyond monetary rewards for students, faculty, and university administrations. The opportunity to showcase and hone athletic talents on world-class, modern sports infrastructure serves as the core motivation for the teams. Countering the growing concern that sports engagement among university students has been waning, the intense enthusiasm and rigorous preparation demonstrated across campuses have proven otherwise. The state-of-the-art facilities at ABG Sports City demonstrate that given the right environment and sponsorship, the youth remain deeply passionate about sports.
Organized under the vision and direction of Sayem Sobhan Anvir, Chairman of ABG (Anvir Bashundhara Group), the tournament aims to revive university-level sports and scout future national athletes, according to Md. Imrul Hasan, Director of ABG Sports City. He added that the organizers plan to expand the tournament's scope in future editions, including introducing a dedicated futsal tournament for female students.
The formal launch concluded with a gala 'Captains’ Meet' and jersey unveiling ceremony at the Julakan Indoor Arena, setting the stage for an exciting contest of athletic excellence and camaraderie on the field.
